Oxfordshire Fire & Rescue Service

Oxfordshire Fire Brigade was established in 1974 as part of a mjor reorgansition of UK local authorities.  Its creation involved merging several smaller brigades within the county, including Oxford City Fire Brigade, and inheriting some stations from neighbouring Berkshire Fire Brigade. Like most UK Fire Bigades it adopted the name Fire & Rescue Service following the 2004 Fire & Rescue Services Act, which saw a statutory expansion of responsibility.

The service operates from 25 fire stations, of which 3 are wholetime crewed, 3 are day crewed, and 19 are retained stations. In 2024, the service responded to over 6,500 incidents.
